Today we introduce the CCK11 participants' blogs. Each day, we will list new blog posts in the CCK11 Daily Newsletter (see below). You can view the full list of participant blogs on the website. If you haven't yet added your feed, please add it on the new feed page. Note that you can also read participants' posts using our new gRSShopper Feed Reader (note that this is brand new, still pretty basic, and still being upgraded).

Course participants are encouraged to comment on each other's blog posts. You can do this in one of two ways. First, you can simply leave a comment on the blog post itself. Or second, you can share your comment on the CCK11 course website by clicking on the [comment] link. The first person to click on the [comment] link will create a new discussion thread related to the blog post. Subsequent participants will add to that thread. New discussion threads will also be listed in the daily newsletter. And as you may have seen, you can follow any discussion thread by email.

Week 1 impressions are primarily about evomlit11 (Multiliteracies) and LAK11 (Learning and Knowledge Analytics) and only peripherally to CCK11 (Connectivism and Connective Knowledge), which starts today as I am reminded by an email notice from that other MOOC. How do you read through it all and keep up with everything? #cck11

I was a little scared when I read that the first CCK had 2200 participants and the second 700.  If the course/theory about learning through your connections means I have to connect to that many people, how am I ever to manage. Even with my Twitter account I'm approaching if not over the 1000 mark and it's becoming more more difficult to look at it all.  I think many people that hear about learning through a network or networks have that panic feeling initially about "How .... I walked into work yesterday and my co-worker told me how she had just signed up for 2 final courses she had been hoping to complete for the past year in order to complete her certificate.  I'm not sure which bulb went off in my head, or maybe the term should be which one went on, but I had the feeling come over me that I wish I was taking another course. If I think about one of the driving factors behind my enrollment in the CCK11 mooc, which is the desire (and the professional expectation) to keep abreast of lines of thought and development in my field, I am making the obvious connection (no pun intended) that this is exactly what lies behind this theory of learning.To quote from George Siemens paper Connectivism: A learning theory for the digital age: "Currency (accurate, up-to-date knowledge) is the intent of all connectivist learning .... Instead of standing on the sidelines and watching, or attempting to absorb things vicariously, I've plunged in and registered for George Siemens' and Stephen Downes' MOOC, Connectivism and Connective Knowledge 2011.Perhaps it is an insecurity in me, but I often view academic discussions in my own field with a sense of awe, as if it is on a higher plane than the one I inhabit, but then surprise myself, when drawn into discussions with colleagues, with just how much I know and can ....
